The notion of link has become associated with the idea of Web page for a long time now and for good reason. Links provide the means to get from an area of interest to another in the click of a button. As Web pages go, links are a defining characteristic, because although people refer to content when speaking of a Web page, the links are the ones that allow you to process great volumes of information in a short amount of time.
The reason they are capable of doing this is because, in general, links are written in a different color from the rest of the text and most importantly, they are underlined. In this way they catch the eye of the reader. Studies have shown that when someone visits a Web page the first things they react to, by looking at them, are the links and the images.
